Comforting Things
Dewy grass in the morning, softening beneath your feet. The sun isn’t out completely yet, the sky a blend of blue and gray. The sun is lingering just below the horizon. Warm, comfortable, with a gentle breeze brushing your body. A faint fog lacing the air, getting thicker with distance.
Nighttime now, fog has thickened. Scent of rain now lingers. The world looks and feels slow, quiet. Cars gliding by, headlights glowing in mist, streetlights shimmering faintly behind a haze. Wind stirring the trees. Surreal, almost like the Twilight Zone. You’re standing there, alone, but not lonely. You stand solemn like a tree that’s been planted, belonging, a part of it all. The atmosphere feels like a hug, wrapping around you like a warm blanket. A familiar blanket.
Mind feels like a soft field, no more chaos. Hues swirling about, lazily. Each one, a gentle, passing thought. They’re now paused. Neutral for the moment - at a standstill. Peace. No urgency, no noise, simply the present. Focus on the present. Focus on your self, within. So many reasons to be content. Bliss. You breathe the crisp air, feeling the earth beneath you.
Well… that and cognitive behavioral therapy coping mechanisms.
