i call them piggy dippins

how many foreheads these lips have kissed,

how many paws these hands have held,

warm hugs that wrap their bellies,

how many times these eyes have swelled —

with their eyes, they insist,

until we feel compelled.

like children, full of naivety,

they forgive us all too well.
